Please note that the next two statements ARE NOT the opinions of the author and owner of this site but have been expressed to him on several occasions by American men and Japanese women. 1) Many American men think Japanese women are their sex toys to be used and discarded at will. 2) In Japan many Japanese women date American men so that they can "use or improve their English" or just have the experience of being with an American. Please note that the above two statements ARE NOT the opinions of the author and owner of this site but have been expressed to him on several occasions by American men and Japanese women.
This thinking is so common that Japanese comedians on Enta no Kami Sama" joked about it, Many does not mean most, but a significant number and for this blog entry American means many Americans (not all Americans). My concern, how did this thinking come about? I don't have the answer, only observations. One can surf the net and find innumerable sites where American men chat about subservient and sexual Japanese woman, some of the comments are quite graphic. While tales of homely looking American men who gets lucky in Japan can be heard any day. Japanese magazines, newspapers, and television are peppered with non-Asian, non-ethnic looking foreigners, many of whom are Americans.
In a country where the non-Japanese population is extremely small and the American population even smaller the American look is used to sell everything from phones to homes. When asked, Why?" an account executive at a leading advertising firm said that non-ethnic, non-Japanese talent was cheaper than Japanese talent. What a STUPID thing to say when the talent that is used is NOT well known or famous in America or in Japan. The thinking of Japanese men contributes to this phenomenon of women as objects instead of people as they read sexually explicit and graphic comics on trains and buses in full view of women. There are "Women Only" trains so that women can avoid being harassed. While American men take advantage of the Japanese women's curiosity of foreign gentleman and their reluctance to say NO!" firmly.
Some Japanese women just want to experience being with an American, similar to going on a trip to Disneyland. Be assured that many of these Japanese women are educated, well traveled and come from good families. Why do many American men and some Japanese women think and act this way?
