There are certain things that Japanese women want in a Western man, and many things they do not want – they've heard the stories. What is important is to know what many Japanese women are looking for.
Japanese women generally fall into two categories. The 25 year old and under women are in the “time to party and begin to think about getting married” stage. The women over 30 are in the “actively hunting and want to get married” stage. (Not all women fit into these categories, but we are talking in general terms.)
I’ve been reading a lot lately about the Japanese birth rate. Japan has one of the lowest birth rates in the world, and the population is aging rapidly – Japan’s population is actually shrinking as fewer babies are born to replace the elderly people who die. The Japanese government is concerned about the low birth rate, and apparently one of the causes is that only one in four married Japanese couples are having sex. (I knew there was a good reason not to get married!)
It’s funny how often people make little promises to each other during the course of the day – and often, people don’t keep these promises. But if you are in a relationship with a woman, she will expect you to keep some of the promises you make, even if you don’t realize you made them.This is especially true if you are dating a Japanese woman – because Japanese culture values honesty and politeness and the keeping of promises.

Xander: I'm.. I'm not sure that Japanese Women have low self esteem generally speaking. I think that Japanese women or that many Japanese women I'm tempted to say \most Japanese women that date Foreign Men have low self esteem, and date foreign men I should say exclusively because just causually observe the women that frequents places where foreign men hang out perhaps in the hopes of meeting a foreign men or practicing their english or maybe sriking up a relationship. These types of women appear to be on the lower social economic/academic self esteem strata as it were.
A female friend of mine showed me a blog post she had found that was written by a man and that listed all the best places in Tokyo to meet Japanese women – and not just where to “meet” Japanese women but what type of woman was at these places and what your chances were of having sex with one of these women.
One of the hardest things for many men to do is pick out a gift for their girlfriends, especially when their girlfriend is Japanese. Japanese culture places a lot of importance on giving gifts – Japanese people are great at finding cute, thoughtful, beautifully wrapped gifts for all occasions. If you’re dating a Japanese woman, chances are she’s highly fashion-conscious and knowledgeable about all the top brands – this makes buying a gift for her even more difficult!
For all you guys who are really into sports but don’t quite understand dating and how to pick out the right woman for you, here’s a little help. Think about dating Japanese women as if it were football. In football there are a lot of decisions to be made to manage a team properly.
